Big City Blink

my beauty + fashion obsessions

Today  I wished my ear lobes were cuter…
…true story. I’ve always had larger earlobes, which, in the grand scheme of things, isn’t an unforgivable trait, but it’s been one that always bothered me. And then I grew up, and lots of other things caught up really fast - my persistant under-eye circles (it’s not JUST lack of sleep, I swear!), unwanted hair, and thighs that touch just a smidge more than I would like. However, now my large earlobes are like long toes (of which I am also afflicted) - you never notice them until they prevent you from getting something awesome.
Which brings me to today - I had “a day” and decided that I needed to treat myself to something sparkly. I’ve always liked skulls in theory, but have yet to actually purchase something skully, so I gravitated towards these awesome mini-skull earrings from Dogeared. They were dainty, cute skulls, not goth and alternative. Alas… once I tried them on, I noticed the ratio of lobe-to-gold was inexcusable. I looked at them from many different angles, but the decision had been made: No cute skull earrings for me.
It was a sad day. I left Bloomie’s empty-handed, and replaced my cute little skulls with a bottle (or four) of wine from Wine Warehouse, which made me feel marginally better.

These Megan Thorne rings are stunning, right? I’ve wanted to try stacking rings for a while now, but I haven’t been able to find the perfect set. I love the bright colors, and the beautiful settings - check them out!

Today was a big day… my first day at a brand new job! As of today, I am the new social media manager at Creative Media Marketing, or CMM. I’m still working in beauty, and with some really amazing brands, and I couldn’t be more excited!
In many ways, the first day of work feels like the first day of school. You get to pick out all of your supplies, meet new people and start learning about new projects. And best of all, you have to pick out the outfit you’re going to wear on your first day.
Not knowing exactly what to expect in terms of dress code, I opted for this colorful dress from Express. Paired with nude pumps and a long gold necklace, it was exactly what I was looking for.

Lizzie Top by Yumi Kim
It seems like I’m always on the lookout for the perfect silk top - the kind that goes just as well with a work skirt and pumps as it does with cutoffs on the weekend. The printed tops from Yumi Kim are absolutely perfect. They’re light, roomy and breezy, and pair perfectly with a pair of crisp white jeans. I have one hanging in my closet, and it always seems to be the first thing I reach for when I get dressed in the morning!

Stephanie Johnson Medium Flat Pouch in Mumbai
From work events to travelling home for weddings, for the last few weeks I’ve had to lug a ton of stuff with me on a regular basis. I’ve gone from carrying just some lipgloss and concealer with me for light touch-ups to having to carry all of my makeup with me, which requires, of course, a lovely makeup bag.
This bag is the perfect size to carry just what I need, and not take up a ton of room in my purse. Besides - it’s cute enough that I don’t mind it lying out either!
